How to Add Another Email to iPhone

Emails are the lifeblood of the digital age. And with more and more people bringing smartphones with them wherever they go, checking emails has become even more convenient.

If you’d like to set up an additional email on your iPhone, it’s actually a relatively easy and straightforward process.

In this article, we’ll explore how exactly to do so. You’ll learn about:

  • Adding emails to iPhone
  • Automatic and manual methods to add a different email account to your iPhone.

Let’s get started!

How to Add Email to iPhone

When first setting up your iPhone, you’ll be prompted to add your primary email address. If you’re switching from an old iPhone to a new one, this will mean an easy transfer of your old iPhone’s data.

If you find that you need to add another email to your iPhone, this isn’t a problem at all. You can always add another email to your iPhone distinct from the primary address that you’ve already set up.

How to Add Another Email Account to iPhone

The process of adding another email account to your iPhone is simple and only requires you to go to your Settings app:

  1. Firstly, access your iPhone’s Settings app. On the left side, navigate until you find the “Mail” section

  1. Tapping any of these email service providers will immediately redirect you to that provider’s login page
  1. Input your login credentials, and once you’ve confirmed these, the process will be completed.

Note that some email service providers first require you to confirm that it’s actually you who’s logging in. Check your email inbox for any request for verification from your provider.

Confirm that it’s you who’s logging in and the Apple Mail app should be able to sync your emails.

How to Add Another Email Account to iPhone (Manually)

If the email account you wish to add is not any of the provider options listed, you’ll need to add that account manually. Here’s how you can do that:

  1. Again, open your Settings app and navigate to the “Mail” section
  1. Tap “Accounts”, then “Add Account”, then “Other

Your description can be as simple as “My email account”. Once all these details are ready, select “Next

  1. On the next page, you’ll be prompted to confirm the email account through one of two methods: POP or IMAP. Tapping on each of these will give you further information on what they offer.

The key difference between the two is that POP downloads the information to your iPhone, while IMAP leaves a copy of it on your email server. Find which option works best for your needs and tap the setting you prefer

  1. From here, you will be prompted to fill out a form. This will require you to input information on the incoming mail server and the outgoing mail server.

You will also need the hostname of your email provider, your username, and your password. Refer to Apple’s Mail Settings Lookup for these details

  1. With all of this information given, you can then tap “Next”. If everything went correctly, then your additional email account will be immediately added to the iPhone.

If an error has occurred during the process, then a label will pop up to let you know. If this is the case, you may need to start the process again – ensuring this time around that all details are accurate!

Key Takeaways

Adding another email account to your iPhone is an easy process that should take no longer than 15 minutes. Going through this process is worthwhile, as it means being able to streamline all your email communications into one place!
