How to Flag Emails Using Different Colors on iPhone

For those of us who are fans of order and organization, it’s a relief when we find a way to make things a little less chaotic. Choosing to flag emails using different colors is a great way to keep your emails in order and make things just a little easier for yourself.

If you’re an avid iPhone user who loves using your phone on the go, flagging emails is a great way to keep things categorized! You’ll be able to easily find all the emails you need, whenever you need them.

The wonderful thing about this is that you can choose different colors to mean different things!

For example, blue can be for emails about a certain work client, green for emails from family members, and yellow for newsletters and updates about your favorite sports team.

In this article, we’ll explore:

  • What flagging an email means
  • Ways to flag an email in your iPhone
  • How to view all your flagged emails together.

Let’s dive right in!

What Does Flagging Mean on Email?

As we’ve mentioned, flagging emails is a useful way to add some sense to your inbox. It also helps to create a sense of order and prevents clutter.

Simply, you can flag emails when they’re important, urgent, or if they’re just something you don’t want to accidentally delete.

Your flagged emails will be categorized together, so you can find them all in one place.

Unfortunately, Apple Mail doesn’t have a search-by-color function, so you’ll need to look through your flagged messages to find the emails you want.

How to Flag Emails Using Different Colors on iPhone

You can flag emails with different colors by following these simple steps:

  1. In Apple Mail, open the email you want to flag

  1. On the lower corner of the screen, tap the Reply button. This looks like an arrow pointing to the left. A bunch of menus should pop up

  1. Tap “Flag” then choose one of the seven color options for the email. Selecting any of these colors will tag the email with a similarly colored flag

  1. Flag any email you want depending on how you want to organize your inbox.

Emails that you flag will still show up in your inbox. If you want to see all your flagged emails, you need to create a “Flagged” mailbox.

To do this,

  1. Look at the upper corner of your screen and find a left-pointing symbol that looks like a “less than” symbol
